Board Gaming League News for Saturday, Jan 4th!
4PM: Illuminati is a social interaction game designed by the same people that did Munchkin. Each player will control one of the feared and rumored Illuminati. Ranging from the Gnomes of Zurich to UFOs, each Illuminati has their own special ability and goal. In order for a player to win, they’ll need to control Groups. To control a Group, you’ll need to make successful attacks. Attacks cost money. Fortunately, each Illuminati has its own Income and Power. With each Illuminati being able to interfere in every attack, you’ll have to make deals with your opponents!
7PM: Tomorrow is a game that presents a possible near-future scenario: Global environmental collapse. The only solution that seems doable in the short term is global depopulation on a massive scale. The players will be playing as various worldwide superpowers. Russia, The United States, The European Union, The Arab Caliphate, China, and India. The players will have to use the weapons at their disposal to try to eliminate as many pawns as necessary (with each pawn representing seventy million people). Each player will have to use the tools at their disposal (Biological attacks, nuclear attacks, military attacks) to gain as much Political Capital at the end of the game to become recognized as the world’s next great superpower. However, if the death marker doesn’t reach the end of the track by the ninth turn, then EVERYONE loses as the Earth’s collapse goes beyond the point of no return!

BORN OF THE GODS PRERELEASES!
The next Magic: the Gathering set is right around the corner! We will be hosting SIX Prerelease tournament fights for Born of the Gods, the second set in the Theros block! Prerelease tournaments allow you to obtain new product an entire week before its actual release date, and are great for players of all skill levels!
The dates:
Preregistration is available and encouraged for all of these!
Friday, January 31st, as it becomes Midnight (Sealed Deck format)
Saturday, February 1st, at 1PM (Sealed Deck format)
Saturday, February 1st, at 6PM (Sealed Deck format)
Saturday, February 1st, at 11PM (Sealed Deck format)
Sunday, February 2nd, at 1PM (2-Headed Giant format)
Sunday, February 2nd, at 6PM (2-Headed Giant format)
How it works:
Each flight will be maximum 44 players. All spots will be made available for preregistration, and you may preregister for any/all in advance! Entry fee is $25, which includes a special Born of the Gods prerelease kit, which will likely* contain a unique 20-sided spin-down life counter, five sealed booster packs of Born of the Gods, and one sealed color-alligned booster pack of Born of the Gods which will also contain one of five possible prerelease foil promo cards.
You will build your deck exactly from the cards within your kit, aside from basic land cards, which we will happily provide if you need them. For 2-Headed Giant format, you will instead collectively share your kit with your teammate and build your decks from the combined pool of two kits.
Each flight of max 44 players will be four rounds, swiss-style tournament (you are not eliminated if you lose). Prize support will be delegated based on points earned. Example: every player that goes 4-0 will receive the same prize support, and every player that goes 3-1 will receive the same prize support among their record, etc. If you earn at least 2 wins, you will win at least one booster pack. Average length of each flight will be four to five hours.
All prize support will be made available in Born of the Gods booster packs, and other promotional material! There will also be door prizes for each flight :-)
*We don't know the exact contents of these kits yet, but we can assume they will be very similar in design to the last several prerelease kits.
We look forward to providing you with an awesome and exciting Born of the Gods Prerelease experience! Please feel free to contact us directly with any questions, and if you have not participated in a Sealed Deck tournament before, we will be happy to walk you through the process and even help with various forms of strategy!

BOARD GAMING LEAGUE NEWS!
This Saturday (12/7/13) introduces Kingsburg and Nothing Personal!
7PM: Nothing Personal, designed by Tom Vasel (of the Dice Tower board game reviews), is a very interesting worker placement game that uses influence tokens as your workers. You influence gangsters in order to receive the money and respect that they’re worth, but watch out! Too much influence and they’ve attracted the attentions of the Feds and get arrested! The Family with the most Respect at the end of the game wins!
